In its latest updates, Microsoft Windows 11 minimum system requirements now have more older Intel CPUs included. This is to enhance more compatibility with Windows 11.
Microsoft unveiled Windows 11 in June, wherein the company announced the key minimum requirements for it’s workability. They included; a compatible 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, UEFI secure boot, certain graphics requirements, and TPM 2.0.
With the previous minimum requirements remaining, the latest OS brings a visual overhaul with other additional deeper changes. The new additions to the compatible CPU list include Intel Core X-series and Xeon W-series. Intel Core 7820HQ CPUs are also new to the list but available for selected devices running that are shipped with modern drivers based on Declarative, Componentised, Hardware Support Apps (DCH) design principles such as the Surface Studio 2 are compatible.
Adding more Intel CPUs was necessary because the previous minimum requirements were not compatible with CPUs older than late 2017. Users had to upgrade their not so capable CPUs to run Windows 11.
