I accidentally long pressed a message on Whatsapp this morning and noticed a back arrow button at the top panel where you’ll usually have the favourite, delete, copy and forward buttons. On pressing the back arrow I observed that it allowed me to send a direct reply referencing the message I had long-pressed. Here’s what I’m talking about;
A quick online search showed that this quote and reply feature comes with the latest version of Whatsapp, 2.16.118 which is currently in beta. It works for any text or media message in any conversation and you can remove the quoted text by tapping the x button that appears on the right hand side.
What I think about this new feature?
I think this new Whatsapp feature is great. Previously if I wanted to refer to a previous message, I’d search for it and then copy and paste in my current conversation before I continued with the conversation. But with this new feature, that’s unnecessary.
The only problem is it only works when you select one message. If you select more than one text or media message, the reply button won’t come up.
#Whatsappbetwhy Being able to click a couple of messages at once would really be helpful. Please do consider adding this to your next update. Thanks
