Nigerian Startup Portal Commences Labeling

The Nigeria Startup Portal is open for labeling!

The National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA made this announcement via a statement on their X account page.

According to the statement ,  12,948 startups, 912 VCs, 1,735 Angel Investors, and 925 Accelerators, Incubators & Hubs have already registered.

Register at startup.gov.ng and become eligible for statutory incentives, resources, and opportunities

Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, launched the portal in November 2023.

The  Startup Support and Engagement Portal is part of the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA 2022).

It’s aim is to foster the growth of startups and tech talents in Nigeria.

In his response to NITDA’s update on the registrations recorded on the portals so far,  Tijani said:

“I am delighted that the Nigeria Startup Portal, which will label startups and register other ecosystem actors, has now been deployed. The platform will also facilitate a consultative forum where issues affecting startups can be discussed and properly defined for action by the government and other stakeholders.”

Startups who have registered on the Nigerian Startup Portal  would receive a password reset prompt in their emails.

The link will lead to completion of their profile.

After completing the registration they can proceed to apply for a Startup Label or to get verified. (Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, Accelerators, Incubators, and Hubs).

Registration qualifies startups  to participate in forming the Startup Consultative Forum .

It also makes them  eligible for statutory incentives, resources, and opportunities under the Nigerian Startup Act.
