Nokia 3310 is coming back!!!

No jokes guys! The Nokia 3310, that pako phone is coming back this month.

If I was to write a short letter to that device, it will probably go this way: “I remember you, just like yesterday. The way you swept me off my feet with your show of strength was incredible. I lost my breath each time you slipped through my fingers. I would throw you down a flight of stairs, drop you into a pool of mud, and then I would get scared, thinking I lost you, but I could smile again when you landed and you still stood strong. I love you, my one and only 3310 a.k.a. Gidigba!, a.k.a O jabo ko fo” Lol.

Back to serious business…The Nokia 3310 was first released in September 2000 and it was the ‘thing’ then because according to my mum, it was unbreakable. It was also the first device to feature vibration, an extended battery life that even smartphones of today are struggling to get, an extended SMS character limit, screen savers and other features taken for granted on today’s devices.

Now, a Finnish company with exclusive rights to make phones under the Nokia name, HMD Global, is bringing the phone back on the 26th of February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Although we are not sure of the exact specifications of the device, what we do know according to a report is that it will be priced at €59 (that’s about 35,000 Naira). I think the price is ideal; taking note of the fact that it’s a legendary device. Also, the Snake game, yeah that very one, will be pre-installed on it.

The report also says HMD will be announcing a total of four new devices at the Mobile World Congress – Nokia 3, 5, 6 (which will run on Android Nougat) and the 3310. The Nokia 6 will also feature a full HD, 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 430 system-on-chip, 4GB of RAM, and 16-MegaPixel primary camera.

So now, the questions on my mind are: What will this ‘modern’ 3310 look like? Will there be physical buttons? Will it look like today’s phones with a touchscreen? Will it have added features or do the things it was doing before? Or will it just be the same phone we knew?
