Nokia has finally revealed its Android devices at the MWC 2014 after series of rumours and leaks that envisaged that Nokia will jump into the open source Android software with the launch of the Nokia X and the Nokia X+.
This came as a surprise because we expected just a single Android device from Nokia going by the leaks. According to the CEO, Stephen Elop, “The Nokia X is built on Android open source software. We have differentiated and added our own experience.”
The X will have a 4-inch, 840 x 480 IPS screen, 512MB RAM, 4GB of storage expandable, 3MP camera and Dual Sim enabled. While the X+ has the same specs as the X, it has more RAM (768 MB) and an included 4GB microSD card. The processor is a 1GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor and an impressive 1500mAh battery.
You can access the Nokia and third party stores using the devices, but not Google Play. The handsets also come preloaded with Skype and other apps including Maps and MixRadio, Skype and OneDrive. Note that one will not be able to access Google Play store but the Nokia app store and other Nokia third party stores
The X is a low budget phone and will only be available in developing markets at 89 euros, the X+ will be available in Q2 for 99 Euros. The devices will be available in: bright green, bright red, cyan, yellow, black and white.
