The Nigerian NYSC has built an app that would help them access content online and send out and receive information about the scheme. The NYSC director, Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi, expressed that the app was a tool for information dissemination, intended to create a free flow of information between the scheme and the public. The app is also a mobile platform where corps members can keep in touch and communicate within themselves and scheme officials.
This is a welcome step in the tech direction as the next batch of corps members would be able to check their postings by using the app. The app is available on android and Blackberry OS7 devices for now. I’m sure with time a BB10 version would be released.
The app has a service year guide which is supposed to give corps members insight on the journey ahead of them. It also has a forum where corps members can give distress reports and share some of the ‘’sufferings’’ or difficulties they face during their service year.
The interface of the app could be better, and more features could be included; nevertheless we’ll still give it to them for at least being a bit tech proactive.
