“I will be president. You can laugh all you want. I’ll bet you a dollar. I will be president or I would not be doing this,” said John McAfee Monday at the TechCrunch Disrupt TV live in San Francisco where he talked about his political ambition. “I am called ‘not serious’, yet I know of no-one who has lived a more serious life,” he wrote on his campaign site. “I hid in the jungles of Central America for weeks while being chased by an army representing a government that I had refused to be extorted by. Please… tell me what is not serious about this.”
He has called his political party “Cyber Party” and is of the opinion that his ability to run a multi-billion dollar security company qualifies him to be next US president. Trust the press and general public to put him on the spot with questions on issues America is facing and how he hopes to solve some, if not all, should he occupy the seat of world leader. He is reported to focus his campaign on cyber security, saying “We need to fix our technological problems. If someone like me doesn’t step into the presidency, we might as well all go home.” Asked about the ongoing conversation around police brutality and blacks, Mr McAfee pulled his wife, who is black, close to his side and said, “I can tell you, black lives matter.”
Over 25 years ago, he formed McAfee Associates, manufacturers of the McAfee antivirus software that was acquired by Intel in 2010 for $7.68 billion. The company renamed it to Intel Security last year to distance it from its founder’s antics. Upon further reading on the subject, I found out that the presidential candidate has in the past been heavily linked to narcotics, marijuana and heavy cocaine use and abuse. I also came across pictures of McAfee with guns and information about him being named person of interest in a murder case years ago all the way in Belize, North America. Around that time, he was also linked with ‘collecting’ dogs, bodyguards, and young women. Also, according to a USA today article, one of McAfee’s friends was quoted as saying “If anyone comes around (to harm McAfee), they’re dead,” showing off his handgun with glee. “I don’t miss anything from 1,000 feet when I shoot.”
The 70 year old whiz computer developer has also said since the Belize case, there have been death threats on his life and he has had to change phones and homes about 50 times to stay alive and send his ‘detractors’ on a wild goose chase.
Candidacy for the next US president gets more and more interesting.
