Pop Francis
[dropcap type=”1″]P[/dropcap]ope Francis the Bishop of Rome and The Pope of the Catholic Church has been in the news a lot recently. From admonishing the clergy to never cover-up child abuse to okaying parents giving their children a smack for bad behavior, he wears a different cloak by actually addressing the children, youths, students… as their guidance counsellor.

Reports reaching us confirm that Pope Francis hosted a google plus hangout with students today. Chrissy Persica, Google rep had earlier confirmed that the pontiff would be chatting via google plus with students from The United States, Brazil, Spain and India about the role technology plays in their education. The time for the hangout was 10am Eastern Time (ET), 4pm Nigerian time.

The hangout, organized by Scholas, an educational organization sponsored by Pope Francis makes it his second Google+ Hangout from the Vatican designed to give students around the world the opportunity to speak with him directly.

According to Carlo D’Asaro Biondo, Google’s president of strategic relationships for Europe, Middle East and Africa, “the Pope will once again remind us that all it takes to connect with others is the will to reach out”.

We gathered also that the students who participated in the hangout had the rare opportunity of talking about their dreams with the Pope as well as sharing a bit of their lives with the world.
