In the fast-paced world of technology and entertainment, the demand for convenience and accessibility in leisure activities has surged dramatically. Here, Anibe Idajili captures an insightful conversation with Ayobami Jayeoba, the Head of Products at BamBam Automation Limited, the team behind jaiye.ng—an innovative platform aimed at revolutionizing the luxury event subscription experience in Nigeria. Jayeoba talked about the company’s range of services, the unique market position of its products, and the future ambitions that aim to improve nightlife and leisure opportunities for patrons across Nigeria.

Briefly describe what your role is at Jaiye and your goals for a technology-first approach to event management.

My role is the Head of Products at BamBam Automation Limited. I coordinate all our customer-facing products, including one of our flagship products, jaiye.ng.

In essence, with Jaiye, we aim to revolutionize and simplify the process of luxury event subscriptions for those we refer to as our patrons.

With your smartphone and from the convenience of your home, users can book and reserve spots in all happening places, including events, bars, clubs, and lounges. They can count on getting premium spots immediately.

Jaiye literally means enjoyment in Yoruba. We recognize the pursuit of enjoyment as an essential aspect of the human experience, and are committed to providing technology-enabled support to people in their journey toward it.

Can you talk about the other products or services that BamBam Automation provides?

Yes. We also have a product called AxL. It’s actually for journey management services. It facilitates the life cycle of transportation services, encompassing fuel management, expenditure, driver management, maintenance, and the entire journey management service. AXL serves as the journey management and logistics solution for a few FMCG companies in our market. We also have AnaMES, a manufacturing execution system that monitors, tracks, documents, and controls the process of manufacturing goods from raw materials to finished products using bots and IoT devices.

We have another fantastic product in the pipeline that we are excited about. It has to do with credit reporting. I can’t say too much about it. However, it’s almost ready for public consumption. Credit is not as big in Nigeria as in most other parts of the world. Still, I think the product will completely revolutionize the way we think about credit.  Yes, it’s something that also needs to be portable. So it’s transportable across the borders of the country. This is what we are doing with blockchain to make it ubiquitous.

What sets Jaiye apart from what’s obtainable in the market at the moment?

One of our biggest accomplishments is the people we have on board—our partners and the establishments we work with. We want to be able to find something for you to do within a 5-minute radius of where you are. Creating a one-stop shop for everything entertainment for our customers.

We have nearly every major establishment that deals with events or nightlife signed up, which is one of our main selling points. In addition, our aim is to ensure that wherever you are, in every nook and cranny, there’s something to suit your needs.

Who are your typical clients or customers?

Our clientele is both diverse and targeted. We cater to individuals seeking leisure and enjoyment, nightlife connoisseurs and adventure-seekers, and working professionals seeking to balance their work and personal lives.

Regardless of socioeconomic status, we offer an inclusive experience where everyone may find a segment of the market tailored to their leisure preferences. Clients have a plethora of events to select from, ranging from enjoying mocktails or cocktails to popping champagne at high-end clubs.

Our products are intended for locals and visitors from outside Nigeria. If you are unsure of what to do for fun, we can point you to events happening around you.

When was the start-up founded?

We had a soft launch in December 2023 in conjunction with Coco Fest. It was a one-week-long event in Lagos. From the Good Beach to Elysium Night Club and Club Vanity. Basically, everywhere in Lagos. That was strategic since December is when a lot of fun activities happen.

However, we have been around. We only recently pivoted into what it is now. What has changed is the addition of our app and some flair.  Already, users can utilize our subscription-based service to find fun locations. We are moving from our current blog, which serves users in that capacity, to making it publicly accessible.

In March of last year, we transitioned from an offline to an online environment.

Since you started in 2021, how has the reception been in the market?

There is a market for our products.  We already cater to a certain clientele. The difference now is that we are introducing ourselves to the public.

And yes, the reception has been great. But, of course, it can be better.

If I were a potential customer, could you provide me with a rundown of how to access your products?

It’s pretty simple. Potential customers may visit jaiye.ng or download the app on the Google Play Store. The seamless process allows users to explore options, select events based on their preferences, and finalize reservations—all within a user-friendly digital environment.

We have a landing page that suggests bars, lounges, clubs, and events within a given radius of the user’s location. The radius can even be extended.

After that, you are free to select events that interest you. Should you want to proceed, you may simply purchase a table at a club or whatever class of tickets you like, including standard VIP and VVIP. It runs automatically. 

A checkout and payment option is also available.

We provide tickets so you may attend events, clubs, or whatever else you like. It’s as simple as that.

You talked about a new product. When should people expect its launch?

We are still in the focus group. Hopefully, the alpha for that will be out by the end of this year.

I think we will be ready to launch it by the end of this year. We are keeping an eye on things to make sure they go really well. Although I can’t really discuss much about it, I am really excited about it.

I am also the managing partner at BamBam Automation. We develop MVPs, or minimum viable products, for start-ups.  We have a venture studio where designers and developers collaborate with idea guys who are not tech-savvy and are unable to build their own apps.

Consequently, as a venture studio, we collaborate to turn these conceptual sketches into functional apps.

When you think of the future of Jaiye, what are you most excited about?

I believe it is how easy and comfortable Jaiye will continue to make the already-vibrant nightlife in Lagos, Abuja, and Nigeria as a whole. It’s the confidence that, for instance, our clients can visit Zaza Restaurant and Lounge in Lagos with the knowledge that a table has already been reserved for them.

You may not be aware, but in certain parts of Lagos, there are business hubs during the day that transform at night. Also, if you are not familiar with what goes on in Abuja, for example, Jaiye is your nightlife guide.

Having said that, all I did was compare events to nightlife. Our products are not limited to nightlife. You can get tickets for concerts and comedy shows. It encompasses everything, even stage plays.

That’s why we have lounges and restaurants where you can book a table for yourself or a table for two. But, as I said, it’s all-encompassing. You are free to choose how random you want your events to be; curation is not required.

Anything else you want to talk about?

Our clientele in Nigeria is really great, and we plan on leveraging more of it as we bridge the gap between traditional leisure activities and modern technology. The goal for Jaiye is to not only enhance experiences but simultaneously foster a vibrant culture around leisure and enjoyment in Nigeria.
