Reserve Your Free Copy Now: Windows 10 Coming On July 29

Microsoft announced the general availability for Windows 10 release to be set on July 29th. It means in less than three weeks time, your current PC (apart from Windows XP, vista and older versions) will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10. You don’t have to make the decision right now to whether or not hold off the upgrade. For those eligible devices there will be a small Windows icon showing at the end of your taskbar.

 

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES WHEN YOU UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10

Be cautious with the word “upgrade”, not every feature from Windows 7/8.1 will be carried over to Windows 10. You will loss some features by upgrading, but most of those are legacy features in return the new features from Windows 10 are there for you to further explore.

Functions will be removed from Windows 7 when upgrade to Windows 10 are:

Preinstalled default Windows games, in Windows 7 and many previous versions there are default games pre-installed that are comes with Windows out of the box like Solitaire, Minesweeper and Hearts. Those games will be removed when you upgrade to Windows 10. But new versions of those games are available in Windows 10, so consider this as an upgrade to your existing default games.

Desktop gadgets, will no longer available. It’s understandable as a duplicated feature in Windows 10 for it’s new Notification center. You can consider this as a result of an upgrade, duplicated features will be removed and in turn new features will shine.

Windows Media Center, it has announced for sometimes now that this feature will be removed and not available in Windows 10. If you rely on this day-to-day the best suggestions is to hold off the upgrade. It shouldn’t be a surprise to you as Microsoft is pushing live streams on the other product line, Xbox One, are receiving regularly updates on media features and functions.

DVD playback, will not be supported out of the back. That shouldn’t be a deal breaker as there are plenty of third-party software out there allows you to do so, most notably VLC player.
