Samsung and Google are joining forces to develop augmented reality (AR) glasses. This collaboration was confirmed by Samsung’s TM Roh in an interview with Bloomberg. While specific details remain limited, the companies are committed to achieving the highest quality and readiness for their AR glasses.
The announcement of this partnership follows Meta’s unveiling of its Orion AR glasses last year. Although not available for consumer purchase, Meta’s Orion glasses showcased impressive advancements in AR technology.
The news of Samsung and Google’s AR glasses development also coincides with the announcement of Project Moohan, Samsung’s mixed reality headset. Project Moohan runs on the Android XR operating system, a platform that Google recently expanded to include both headsets and smart glasses.
My colleague, Victoria Song, had the opportunity to experience the Project Moohan headset and the Android XR platform firsthand. She described it as a blend of Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro.
At the recent Unpacked event, Samsung also unveiled its latest flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S25 lineup. This series includes the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
