According to Wall Street Journal, Samsung is planning to launch a new device that will run on its own Tizen operating system at an ‘unpacked’ event in Russia.
Samsung is known to unveil its flagship products during its unpacked events. This year’s event will hold in Moscow in the coming weeks and will see the Korean company unveil its first commercial Tizen smartphone. Report also reveal that Samsung will launch the Tizen Smartphone in India
Samsung is known to be the main Android partner and holds a huge market share in the Android market . A launch of its own operating system will be a great threat to Google. We know that Samsung had long plans to distance itself a bit from its reliance on Google and its Android operating system for its smartphones and it seems the time is right. Samsung has released several cameras and a smartwatch, the Gear 2, running on Tizen.
Tizen is open source which mean it will become an alternative to Google’s Android OS as other phone manufacturers can embrace it and further customize.
