Once in a while, we all find ourselves in very awkward situations where we are trying to select which of our beautiful pictures and video memories to delete all because we are trying to free up some space on our smartphones.
Freeing up space has become a very common practice lately and even when smartphones now come pre-installed with more internal storage options like 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, these memories are maxed out in such a short while because of the high pixel count of the cameras shooting at very high resolutions alongside videos being recorded in 4K. To avoid deleting pictures, one would require a quick backup of those multimedia and other files and the Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 comes in handy.
What’s in the box?
The Sandisk Dual Drive m3.0 is packed in a plastic bubble pack with soft cadboard back. The device is touted as the Flash Drive for Android smartphones that allows you free up space on tour OTG-enables Android device with read speeds up to 150MB/s.
Ripping the cardboard back apart reveals the drive itself in the sealed bubble it comes in.
The device is a small thumb retractable drive with a USB connector and micro-USB connector at opposite ends. Both connectors are held together by a slider that enables you switch between the two connectors. The switching only allows you make use of one connector at a time.
The device essentially allows you transfer files from your smartphone onto the USB or from the USB to the smartphone, likewise plug the USB to the a computer via the USB port and transfer file to and from it.
Performance
Using the Sandisk Dual drive on the computer is easy as it is just a plug and play device like your regular flash drive/Mass storage device. By default, the available storage capacity is 114GB.
For real life testing, I sent a 1.14GB file from the computer to the drive and it took 54 seconds at a speed of 22.9MB/s. Same file was sent from the PC to the drive and this was even faster at 32 seconds at 38.4MB/s.
I also tested with a Huawei smartphone and when plugged in, it was immediately detected and ready for use. The storage can be accessed via the file manager on mobile.
A 2.26GB file was transfered from the phone to the drive and the result was impressive. The file was transferred under in 1:35 minutes at 41MBMB/s.
You can also choose to install the Sandisk Memory Zone app on your phone. This lets you completely manage files on your phone, access and move files around-whether they are on your phone, the drive or store in the cloud.
In conclusion, the Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 is a portable device that can be used on mobile and PC to do a quick backup of your files instead of uploading to cloud or using a USB cable to connect to the PC. It can be used on the go as a backup for mobile and/or for expanding storage.
