Meet Nokia’s Selfie Phones: The Lumia 730 and Lumia 735

During the just concluded IFA in Berlin, Nokia  unveiled the previously rumored selfie phone which came in two variants, the Lumia 730 and Lumia 735. The two devices are classified as budget phones but they have specs that can compete favorably with the high end smartphones.

Even though the Lumia 730 and the Lumia 735 are budget-friendly phones, the front-facing camera on these devices give high-end smartphones a run for their money.

The only differences between the two devices is that one has dual SIM capability (the Lumia 730), while the other has single SIM 4G LTE capability (the Lumia 735).

Both smartphones have a 4.7-inch OLED display with 1280 x 720 resolution and “2.25D” curved glass, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, microSD support, 15GB of free OneDrive cloud storage, 6.7-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel wide-angle front-facing cameras, 2,220mAh battery with Qi Wireless charging (only for the 4G LTE versions) and Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update on top.

To emphasize the name selfie phone, The Nokia Lumia 730 comes with a unique selfie app pre-installed on the device. This can be used to tweak the captured selfies by virtually adding effects, brightness and filters. The app can also be used to enhance a particular part of the image like whitening the teeth.

In addition to selfies-friendly front-facing camera, Microsoft has highlighted one other feature of these affordable Lumias, and that’s support for seamless call switching between regular voice calls and Skype video calls.

The phones will be available in orange, green, white and dark grey, and will start selling this September. The Lumia 730 will cost $262 while the 4G LTE Lumia 735 will sell for $288.
