Shakira has set a new world record as she hits 100 million like on her Facebook page. That’s another Facebook record, courtesy of the just concluded FIFA World Cup.
The Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer set a new social media record as the first person to reach 100 million likes on Facebook. She has also become the most likable woman in the world… Hmmmnnn truly truly ‘HIPS DON’T LIE’
She achieved this feat after posting a picture of herself posing in the Maracana stadium before her performance at the closing ceremony of the world cup final. That photo which also became her most liked post till date got a massive 3.5 million likes in just four days.
“I am honoured and humbled about reaching this milestone. Social media and specifically Facebook have helped myself and other artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience,” said Shakira.
Right after Facebook and Facebook for Every phone that has more “likes” on the social network, Shakira is now the most liked page on Facebook. She is closely followed by the popular Real Madrid Star, Christiano Ronaldo with over 91 Million page likes.
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg also congratulated Shakira on her achievement. “Congrats! What an amazing milestone for an amazing person,” he wrote in a comment on her page.
She also posted a short video to appreciate her 100 million fans on Facebook.
Shakira had an impressive performance at the closing ceremony of the World Cup as she performed her hit song “La La La,” featuring Carlinhos Brown. The official video for the song has received more than 239 million views since it was posted on Youtube on May 22.
