Its official, Sony has unveiled the new 5.2-inch flagship smartphone, Xperia Z2 at the MWC 2014, just about four months after the company unveiled the Xperia Z1.
The phone’s major feature is the 20.7MP camera which has an Exmor RS for mobile image sensor that can take 4K videos, pictures will also have very good quality.
The Z2 is similar to its predecessors, the Z1 in terms of its design but different in specifications and size, the Z2 has 5.2-inches while the Z1 rest at 5-inch. The 5.2-inch display also packs the same 1,920×1,080-pixel resolution as the previous Z1.
Now with these similarities, you begin to wonder what is new in the Z2 and one question comes to mind, What benefit does Sony derive from having a lot of devices that look very similar?
Anyway, the Xperia Z2 is slightly larger 5.2-inch display, slimmer around the edge and powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It also runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, a 20.7-megapixel camera with a 1/2.3-inch image sensor that can take 4K videos, 3GB of RAM and a 3,200 mAh battery.
It is worthy of note also that Sony has made the device waterproof as well, just as it did with the Z2’s predecessor. The Sony Xperia Z2 release date is set for March 2014.
