Start-up Europe comes to Africa supported by the European Commission

Start-up Europe will be coming to Africa (SEC2A) this October. Startup Europe is an initiative of the European Commission, which falls under its priority of the ‘Digital Single Market’ to tear down regulatory walls. This has led it to move from 28 national markets to a single one. They have 4 primary objectives: connect people, connect local startup ecosystems, help startups soft-land in other markets and celebrate entrepreneurs’ success.

It is our turn in Africa this year and this is a call to start-up founders (with either African descents or products focused on Africa) and investors that invest in African start-ups. First, they will host a pitch slam at the Tate Modern on 12 October for selected start-ups. Selected start-ups will pitch to the VIP audience. Each winner will get a PAID flight and accommodation to attend and pitch at the 5th Annual Africa-EU Summit in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in late November.

Former President Obasanjo of Nigeria will keynote the Tate event.

Anyone else interested in attending the event will have to send an email to Lucy, lucy.russo[at]wayra.org.

After which the official launch of the Start-up Europe comes to Africa Road Trip and Grand Finale will take place in Brussels on 2 November, and will be supported by the European Commission.

You can apply here to pitch at the launch event for the Startup Europe Comes to Africa Roadshow,
