Sign up your teenager for this STEM Summer Camp in Lagos

STEM’s summer camp for girls in Senior Secondary Schools is set to hold from August 8th to 10th in Lagos.

The 3-day Summer camp is themed; “Renewable Energy” and will include activities in coding and Robotics for the teenage girls to learn and improve their techknowledgy knowledge in technology.

The camp is “designed to accommodate quite a number of female students and expose them to the diverse renewable energy (RE) sources available in Nigeria and Africa while helping them harness this potential for economic growth and development. They will be taught the science behind RE and will be given the opportunity to build demo projects to generate electricity using solar, wind, and hydro source.

Last year’s STEM summer camp took place on August 1 – 8, 2016 at Aduvie International School, Abuja with 45 girls from within Africa, during the camp, the girls were let to solve simulated problems that affect people in their communities where they developed innovative ideas to combat drought, floods, food insecurity, electricity shortages, and so on.

In the growing world of technology, the STEM  summer camp seems like a good opportunity for young girls around Africa to learn to grow with the changes in the world, fit in and contribute to the growth.

With the recent call for more females in STEM related fields, this comes at a right time. Hopefully, it is explored by more than just a few.
