That worst feeling you often have when you check your phone and see the battery indicator blinking at you, letting you now that you will soon be cut off from loved ones or associates. I know its awkward considering the state of power supply. Well that will soon be a thing of the past with this new technology from StoreDot.
Storedot is an Israeli startup company that claims your smartphone can be fully charged in 30 seconds. (see video above as StoreDot charges a Samsung Galaxy S4.) It has manufactured batteries with nanotechnology which is simply based on building blocks called Nanodots which are structured after biologically originating nano-crystals.
The manufacturers have described this technology cost-effective and environmentally friendly, a nanodot battery uses bio-organic materials that boost electrode capacity and electrolyte performance. The end result is safer and it will be easier to mass produce batteries that can be fully charged in minutes instead of the long hours we currently witness with our phones.
While these batteries charge up quickly, it will hold and discharge normally like the typical lithium ion cell. “The fast-charge battery is the result of our focus on commercialising the materials we have discovered. We’re particularly pleased that this innovative nanotechnology, inspired by nature, not only changes the rules of mobile device capabilities, but is also environmentally-friendly,” said Dr. Doron Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot.
With the company’s plan of going into mass production within the next two years, we expect to witness a revolutionary change in the smartphone industry. Trust me if we can charge our smartphones in 30 seconds, then, we are good to go.
