TechCabal, Nigeria’s leading tech online publication, is announcing the inaugural version of its startup competition, TechCabal Battlefield.
They have spent about a year covering startups in Nigeria and want to help discover the next big startup. To this end, they have partnered with Social Media Week Lagos, Stanbic IBTC, Jobberman, VC4Africa, Memeburn and others to bring the first of this kind of event to Nigeria.
TechCabal will search out young startups, put finalists through a training session with seasoned professionals and allow them present their businesses to an experienced panel of judges as well as an audience of press, investors and the general public.
They will also be giving out a star prize of $10,000 $20,000 to the winning startup, as well as other prizes and the chance to get publicity in the press. The Battlefield is another TechCabal contribution to the African startup ecosystem.
One of the key criteria is that the startups in the competition must have received less than $200,000 in funding prior to entering the competition. They believe that this is a unique opportunity for investors to discover the next generation of startups – a great business opportunity to get in on attractive deals early.
This event will hold on Wednesday 19th February 2014 at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos and is part of the activities of Social Media Week Lagos 2014.
