The Welcome to Nigeria Challenge

TechCircle & Hardware Things Present ‘The Welcome to Nigeria Challenge’

Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún highlighted a problem on Twitter. Although there are ~400 written native Nigerian languages, English, a foreign language, is the only one that welcomes people to the country.

But with such a diversity of languages, which language(s) would be used to represent Nigeria?

Oo Nwoye proposed a solution: create a digital sign that says “Welcome” in all the Nigerian languages.

That is how the Welcome to Nigeria Challenge was born.

TechCircle, Hardware Things & Yorùbá Names came together to crowdsource a Nigerian led solution to this problem via a competition where participants come up with viable solutions and the winning time will receive a gift from a prize pot.

The competition went on for 4 months and is coming to an end on Thursday, the 2nd of June 2022 by 1 pm WAT. The top 3 teams will present their solutions and be judged by Oo Nwoye, Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún,  and Deola Agbonyin based on their originality and creativity.

You don’t want to miss it!
