The new Tecno Phantom 5 was announced last week in Nigeria. It is a successor to the previous Phantoms which are flagship products of the Chinese manufacturer. After the phone was launched and price announced, there were mixed reaction and discussions were stirred up on social media as to why Tecno would decide to sell a phone for N70,000. However, the Phantom Z still sells for over N60,000.
I had a few discussions with people who felt the price was on the high side even though the phone is a flagship, after spelling out the specifications of the device which arguably balances up with some flagships from other manufacturers, the general resolve was that they would have to see the device to be convinced if spending such amount would beworth it. SO here you have an unboxing and first impression of the new Phantom 5.
Opening the pack, we were welcomed by a rather new and unusual packaging design.
There you have the phone standing upright in the pack alongside two other white boxes.
Its an all metallic phone and holding it feels really convenient, slight gentle curve behind make it sit comfortably in the hand. There is a finger print scanner just below the back camera, a position which makes it easy to reach while holding the phone. We haven’t tested he responsiveness of this finger print sensor but trust us to give you all that information the the full detail review.
One of the boxes contain the charger, USB cable and the earpiece all neatly packed.
The other small box contains the free protective cover and the user manual.
That is all we have in the box.
Here is the run down of the specification of the Phantom 5.
5-inch device and all metallic design, Slim body at 6.8mm, finger print sensor, 13MP back camera with dual flash and an 8MP front camera that comes with a Flash.
It is powered by an Octa Core processor from MediaTek, it runs on the Android Lollipop 5.1, 4G network capability, RAM is 3GB and internal memory is a large 32GB. Battery capacity is 3000mAh which sounds like a good one.
We will work through the device and do a full review in the coming days.

Nice. Does the earpiece have any special effect like that of the Boom J7?
I think it does. it’s also metallic too.
Pretty nice stuff. I like the pictures I see.
