A few months ago, TechCity reported that Elon Musk was planning a Twitter auction sale. True to that report and on the 18th of January, Twitter began auctioning its office furniture along with other items. The purpose of this auction is, in part, to get rid of items its staff do not need.
Elon Musk previously pointed out that this auction sale would also help Twitter cut costs. With respect to ‘cutting costs’ and maximizing profit, the firm also laid off thousands of staff and introduced new pricing for the Blue subscription and so much more.
While some people have kicked against these changes, Musk remains adamant. For the Twitter auction sale, the company put up the blue bird memorabilia for $35,000 making it the highest bid at the auction.
Other items that went on sale at the auction include the Twitter bird statue, which got a bid of over $30,000. This made it the second most expensive bid at the Twitter auction sale. Also on sale was a plant sculpture “@” symbol, some furniture, kitchen appliances, and a semi-automatic espresso machine.
This was a successful auction for Twitter, as they have been able to clear these items out of their headquarters but we reckon the money realized will do little to settle Twitter’s debts running into millions. Elon Musk and his staff have a lot of work to do to get Twitter back on its feet.
