The World of Custom Cars: BRABUS, Germany

brabus 800

Nigerians are absolutely car crazy, that`s a matter of fact. The sheer number of luxury cars which can be spotted on the streets is mind blowing. “Why don’t we portray those companies which make the most exciting cars in the world … even more exciting?” we thought at TechCity, and the idea of a series was born. Over the next few weeks, we will be presenting car customizers from all over the world, country by country, segment by segment – from sports cars, to SUVs, pickup trucks and refurbished vintage cars. We will kick off our series with a handful of customizers from Germany, with focus on enhancing local car brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz or Porsche. Enjoy the ride!

Bad Boy BRABUS

The company was founded in 1977 and was has been focusing on high-performance tuning for Mercedes-Benz since then, as well as on the manufacturers’ later derivatives Smart and Maybach.

Being a direct competitor of AMG, the high performance division of Mercedes-Benz, BRABUS has always played the bad boy card. “Whatever AMG does, we can do it meaner, ‘badder’ and bolder!” seems to be the BRABUS credo. To date, almost each new BRABUS model breaks a new performance limit.

BRABUS Rocket 900

BRABUS Rocket 900 premiered at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. It’s based on the current Mercedes-Benz S-Class top model S 65 AMG which comes off-the-shelf with a V12, 630 hp engine. BRABUS Rocket 900, however, unleashes 900 hp, 1,500 Nm and a top speed in excess of 350 km/h which certainly deserves to be called a new reference for high performance in the luxury class, as BRABUS claims.

The standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class undergoes significant modifications to the engine as well as to its peripherals and transmission. A larger cylinder bore, a custom turbocharger with a bigger compressor unit and a larger turbine, enhanced air supply of the engine, reprogrammed mapping for fuel injection and ignition and a sports exhaust system with actively controlled butterfly valve –  the latter allowing the driver to adjust the sound from quietly “Coming Home” to markedly powerful twelve-cylinder “Beast Mode” sound

Brabus Rocket

In addition to performance tuning, BRABUS Rocket 900, offers an aerodynamic body kit, 21” or 22” forged wheels in different designs and a significant interior enhancements such as fine leathers and the BRABUS “iBusiness” multimedia system which, as the “i” prefix suggests, integrates with the latest generation of Apple technology

The BRABUS Rocket 900 can be ordered as a complete car starting at approx.US$ 390,000. In case this write up increased your appetite, you can find BRABUS cars for sale on the company’s website.

BRABUS 700 6×6

In 2003, the investment bank Goldman Sachs published a report titled: “Dreaming with the BRICS: the path to 2050”, thus envisioning a new economic world order: “Over the next 50 years, Brazil, Russia, India and China – the BRICs economies -could become a much larger force in the world economy. The results are startling. If things go right, in less than 40 years, the BRICs economies together could be larger than the G6 in US dollar terms. The list of the world’s ten largest economies may look quite different in 2050.”

Over the last decade, various investment firms have taken this concept further by modifying the BRIC formula by adding further emerging geographies, whilst staying true to the underlying concept: It’s the emerging economies which change the world, with not a single industry remaining untouched by a new breed of customers.

BRABUS 700 6×6 is a perfect incarnation of this new order: Introduced to the world public at the IAA 2013, it’s a particularly exclusive power offroader based on the Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 – targeted at a the affluent clientele in regions such the Middle East or Africa.

Needless to say, the factory model’s already impressive performance has been taken to a next level from 544 hp to 700 hp, and it’s interior has been almost entirely refurbished using the finest materials.

BRABUS Private Aviation

BRABUS has been mirroring the entire Mercedes-Benz product portfolio from entry level sedans such as the A-Class up to limited editions like the G 63 AMG 6×6 with its own custom versions.

Brabus Private aviation

Over the decades, BRABUS has expanded its portfolio to services such as classic car restoration, yachts and private aviation: BRABUS Private Aviation individualizes business jets and helicopters, providing individual exterior and interior design solutions as well as aircraft management services. Good news for those Nigerians who spent a combined of US$ 6.5bn on private jets making Nigeria the largest market in Africa for luxury aviation and one of the fastest growing globally
