This year’s Grammy Awards fitted with GoPro cameras

Grammy Awards

The statuettes which will be given out during the 58th Annual Grammy Awards will have GoPro cameras embedded in them.

Why?

Some ‘heffizi sturvz’ of cause.

The cameras will be fitted into the base of the gold-plated gramophones and each would have only 3 hours of battery life enough to let us see when the awardee collects the award on stage as well as when they take it backstage.

The awardees won’t be taking these GoPro embedded awards hom though as they’ll have to hand it over after the award ceremony so it’ll be replaced with a standard block of wood and gold-plated zinc at a later date.

Called the ‘Grammy-cam’, the embedded GoPro cameras are expected to give Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) producers the option to steam the footage from them on the Grammy website, Live app or TV broadcast.

I’m not so sure what the footage from the Grammy-cams will look like though. I mean, awardees usually just hold it to their chest or wave it at their fans after they’ve received them. So….how would footage from such awkward viewpoints be interesting?

I guess I’ll have to wait till February 15th to find out.
