Twitter will soon start paying content creators

Twitter CEO, Elon Musk Musk disclosed this via his twitter page on Saturday saying the platform will pay creators for ads served on their replies.

Twitter CEO and owner, Elon Musk has announced that the platform will soon begin paying content creators for advertisements on their replies.

The first block payment has been estimated to be a sum of $5 million. The condition however is that only content creators that have verified accounts are eligible for payment on ads.

Musk disclosed this via his twitter page on Saturday. He tweeted; “In a few weeks X/Twitter will soon start paying creators for ads served on their replies. First block payment totals $5 million.”

“Note, the creator must be verified and  only ads served to verified users count”

Musk may have finally found a motivation for users, especially content creators to get the Twitter Blue verification badge as some had ditched the “verified” status since it became subscription based and users were stripped of their blue badges if they hadn’t subscribed to Twitter Blue.

Earlier this year, the platform saw politicians, celebrities, media companies e.t.c lose their blue badges after they had failed to subscribe to Twitter Blue at $8 monthly.

The move received strong objections as users raised security and authenticity concerns and most were not going ahead with the subscription .

Some users with more than a million followers got their blue badges after a while, but others were not so lucky.

Musk has continued to make bold moves on the platform since he acquired it in October 2022, including stepping down as CEO and appointing Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new boss.

Must stated that Yaccarino will focus primarily on business operations while he will continue to work at twitter via product design and  technology.

Announcing the new CEO on 11th of May, Musk tweeted, “my roll will transition to being exec chair & CTO software and sysops.”
