Following the launch of Uber Go in select areas in Lagos, Uber has announced the expansion of the product in Ikeja. Uber Go is a more affordable rides option for consumers which makes use of smaller, fuel-efficient hatchback vehicles, to boost rider demand and unlock further earning opportunities for drivers.
Uber Go features fuel efficient hatchback vehicles that are generally more affordable to maintain for drivers operating on the Uber app.
Uber Go will be more affordable than UberX with the minimum fare starting at N400 offering riders a 35% lower cost alternative. The product is being launched in Ikeja with plans to extend to other parts of Lagos and cities where Uber is present in the coming months.
“One of Uber’s objectives is to build solutions that resonate locally in all the cities we operate in. As such we aim to continually offer riders an affordable and convenient ride option, while offering drivers a platform to access economic opportunities, with the same Uber experience and door-to-door safety experience. We are excited to expand Uber Go to Ikeja in our bid to make this a reality,” says Tope Akinwumi, Country Manager for Uber in Nigeria.
Uber Go carries the same door-to-door safety features as any other Uber options such as Injury Protection, 24/7 support, PIN verification, RideCheck, including driver screenings. .
“Uber’s goal is to always provide innovative products and services to help improve the rider and driver experience on the app. We are excited that we are able to expand our options and provide an opportunity with a wider and more cost effective range of options for both the riders and drivers in cities we operate in,” add Akinwumi.
To access Uber Go in Ikeja, riders simply need to open the Uber application where they will have the option to request either an Uber Go or an UberX ride.
