Walmart will allow you test a dress virtually before buying it

Walmart AR shopping experience

The Walmart AR shopping experience is helping to solve the issue of purchasing dresses that don’t fit. We are all familiar with the “what I ordered versus what I got” trend and AR shopping is here to solve that scourge. Here’s how AR shopping works and how can customers make use of the feature in real life.

Dubbed the “Be Your Own Model Experience” by Walmart, the feature makes use of a shoppers photos to get figure and size. When shopping for clothing items, you will need to upload a photo of yourself and the AR system will fit the cloth on you. But it will only appeal to those comfortable uploading photos of themselves online.

The system fits the clothes on, so you get to see what the cloth will look like before making a purchase. So far, the company seems optimistic that this feature will attract more users, especially female shoppers.

This is no doubt an innovative approach to the online shopping experience. The Walmart AR shopping experience is making online fashion shopping a bit more physical, but is this scalable? And, will other online stores integrate a similar service to their applications?

The presence of this new feature on other shopping apps will prove its usefulness and popularity. If its adoption rate expands, we may well begin to wave goodbye to “what I ordered versus what I got.”
