WhatsApp has reportedly rolled out a new update for Android beta testers. According to screenshots shared by WaBetaInfo, the messaging app will now inform users if they miss a call when “Do Not Disturb” (DND) mode is enabled. The app will also let you know the time of the call.
WhatsApp will display a small box in the chat saying that you “missed a voice call at a certain time while on the DND mode.” While this feature from WhatsApp seems like a minor update, missed calls will still appear in the WhatsApp call log. It is unclear when the feature will be made available to all users via the stable update but those who are using WhatsApp’s Android 2.22.24 17 version will be able to check out this feature.
WhatsApp Community is another “silently” released feature. According to the company, Communities provide users with the ability to organize and bring related groups together under one umbrella. Community admins can reach members with important updates by sending announcements, and community members can stay connected by exploring and chatting in groups that matter to them. The potential use cases for WhtasApp’s Communities feature are as enormous as they are exhausting, but time will tell.
On the other hand is WhatsApp Polls. A new feature that lets you carry out a multiple choice Q&A for personal chats and group chats. Similar to Community, WhatsApp polls is available on both Android and iOS devices. Polls on WhatsApp can take as many as 12 options to select an answer from. A question can take as many as 6 lines of text. To access Polls, click on the attachment icon on the message bar and look out for a “Poll” icon.
Be sure that your WhatsApp is updated to use these features.
