We have all been in a situation where we wished our WhatsApp message errors could disappear. Due to the size of our keyboards or typing too fast, we often end up making embarrassing mistakes while chatting. Currently, the most popular way to correct such a mistake is to delete the message and send a correct version or simply type the correct message with an asterisk sign beside it and hit send.
Thankfully, WhatsApp is again working on an edit button that will help you correct your mistakes with the snap of a finger. Again? Yes.
At the start of 2017, WhatsApp began testing an edit function within chat messages. But, we didn’t get to see the result of the entire project as it got tossed in the dustbin of great ideas. Now five years after the first attempt, WhatsApp has resuscitated the ‘edit a message’ feature on chats.
While the feature is still in beta, it will come with an update in the nearest future – if WhatsApp does not change its mind again. The edit button will certainly become one of the most loved features on WhatsApp and how this feature will work is simple. See the step by step process:
- Make a mistake.
- Hold down on the message containing the mistake.
- Tap the three buttons in the top-right corner of your screen and select “Edit.”
- Make your changes and send the new and possibly correct message.
With this feature, we will no longer sound uneducated when chatting with our friends and employers, or a love interest.
