Soon, WhatsApp users will be able to react to a specific text in a conversation with an emoji.
Screenshots of how the emoji reactions will work when launched were shared by WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo. Although the screenshot showed an IOS interface, the tracker said it is also developing that of Android users too.
The reactions won’t give anonymity, everyone involved in a conversation gets to know who reacted to a specific message. The reactions are placed below the chat bubble in a small dialogue. So far, the reactions are still in the development stage, this means that users on the latest beta builds will not be able to gain access.
WABetaInfo also revealed that the instant messaging app is working on a new chat bubbles design for iOS users. Already, Android beta users with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.13.2 have started utilizing the feature. The new chat bubbles design compared to the previous is more rounded and wears a new green colour.
Lastly, WABetaInfo said that the new archive feature will soon be accessible for desktop users on multi-device. Currently, only WhatsApp Web and Desktop users can use the new archive feature which does not automatically unarchive chats when new messages arrive.
