Whatsapp Latest Update: You Can Run But You Can’t Hide

I never really liked how people could stalk you on WhatsApp and know the last time you where online or if you are online at that moment. Like you can’t even sneak in and read some messages and ignore others without the chat app giving you away! And now guess what? People can also know whether or not you’ve read their messages. So if you’re fond of using the ‘’I just saw this excuse’’, you can run but you can’t hide!

Funny thing is a few weeks ago, prior to the release of the new update, I was thinking about an instant messaging app that combined the ‘’Read’’ feature on BBM and the ‘’Last seen’’ feature on WhatsApp. I think the Californian Company stole my idea! I should probably sue them…… or maybe not.

Most people think the two grey checks means the person has read the message but that just means your message has been delivered. Here’s how it works: one grey check means your message has been sent. Two grey checks means your message has been delivered. And now, two blue checks means your message has been read. If you want to know the exact time someone read your message, you can hold down the message, then click info to get the time stamp. Although you can only see this blue checks if the person is using the updated version of WhatsApp.

The only way out of this is if you view the message from your notification panelbut you would only see a preview of the message and not the whole message (depending on its length). Because you didn’t open the app, it wouldn’t show up as read. Wink wink.

WhatsApp boasts 600 million users and as of last month, Facebook officially closed its acquisition which cost 19 billion US dollars.
