Whatsapp releases message edit feature

Announcing the update, WhatsApp said, “For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages.”

WhatsApp has added the message edit feature to the messaging app. This new feature allows users to edit already sent messages.

Announcing the update, WhatsApp said, “For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages.”

To edit a message, press and hold the affected message, and a response with a list of options pops up. Click on the edit button and make corrections.

“From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats. All you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after,” Whatsapp says.

With the new update, an edited message will indicate “edited,” so that the recopient is aware of the correction. It does not show the edit history however.

The feature has been rolling out to iOS users in some regions and will be available to everyone globally in coming weeks.

WhatsApp is arguably one of the most actively evolving social media platforms as it keeps introducing new and useful features to enhance users’ experience.

Some of it’s recently added features include Status Ring, Forwarding media with captions and previewing links on status.
