Abidjan set to host Africa in the Electronic and Video Game Festival this November

Abidjan will be hosting Africa at the Electronic and Video Game Festival of Abidjan (FEJA) on November 11th and 12th at Palais de la Culture (Palace of Culture) in Abidjan. The event organized by Paradise Game will welcome more than 50,000 video game lovers.

This large-scale event is supported by Orange Côte d’Ivoire; a telecommunications company and official partner of the FEJA.

With over 5000 sq. meters dedicated to gaming (game console, PC, virtual reality, etc.) and to technological innovation, FEJA promises to turn the venue into a digital paradise.

The 2017 edition will feature eSports tournaments for which qualifiers will be selected starting September 23rd at Playce Marcory in Abidjan leading to the selection of 256 gamers coming from various African countries who will compete during the festival.

Selected gamers will compete during the FEJA after which more than 10000 € will be given in cash prizes to the winners.

Speaking on the upcoming event, Sidick Bakayoko, Managing Director of Paradise Game said; “We wanted to gather in one place all the players of this untapped industry in Africa. The worldwide video game industry is worth 100 billion dollars and 27% of the revenues is said to come from mobile games. Africa only represents a fraction of that but has a huge potential with more than 400 Million Africans who play on their mobile.

The gaming industry consequently offers a significant number of career opportunities to young Africans including scriptwriter, game designers, programmers, pro-gamers, and a lot more.
