Following the announcement of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, which apparently marked the first official launch of a Xiaomi smartphone in Nigeria, the company is set to launch the Redmi K20 series which seem to be the most anticipated Xiaomi device.
The K20 series include the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro, both offering 6.39-inch AMOLED full HD display, 20MP pop-up selfie camera, 4,000mAh battery, 48MP triple rear camera implementation, in-display finger print sensor among others.
Going by the information available to us, only the Redmi K20 will be available in Nigeria, leaving out the K20 Pro with a 27 watt fast charging and recent Snapdragon 855 processor. The Xiaomi Redmi K20 (Mi 9T) is powered by a snapdragon 730 chipset with 18 watt fast charging, a 6.39 AMOLED display with resolution of 2,340×1,080 at pixel density of 403PPI, Adreno 640 GPU, 6GB/8GB RAM, storage offering between 64GB/128GB/256GB and a USB type C port.
The triple camera set up include a 48MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto lens. The k20 Pro uses the Sony IMX586 sensor while the K20 uses the Sony IMX582 sensor which is reported not to support 4K video recording at 60fps like that of the K20 Pro.
We are not certain which of the variants of the Redmi K20 will be announced at the launch tomorrow but we strongly feel the 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB version will be available in Nigeria. Pricing will also be a little above N100,000 but we will just have to wait till tomorrow to get full details.
